Conditional Studio + Processing Foundation
The UCLA Arts Conditional Studio focuses on the intersections of software with art, politics, and everyday life. In this investigation, software can indicate everything from source code, networks, and UI patterns, to objects, ways of thinking, and practices of creation. Together we create, distribute, perform, modify, write, and critique. The Processing Foundation promotes software literacy within the visual arts, and visual literacy within technology-related fields — and to make these fields accessible to diverse communities. The goal is to empower people of all interests and backgrounds to learn how to program and make creative work with code, especially those who might not otherwise have access to these tools and resources. Impure Functions is led by Chandler McWilliams, Lauren McCarthy, and Casey Reas.
