Hearts of Animals started as the solo project of Houston singer-songwriter Mlee Mains. Three full-length albums later, Mains has enlisted her brother Joey on drums, Clinton Heider on guitar, and Stephen Finley on bass, fleshing out the iPod/laptop backing tracks she used as a solo artist. Ethereal vocals, fuzzy guitars and raucous drumming fuse together to create a sound that contains pieces of punk, folk, and psychedelic rock.
