GABRIEL PULECIO
Gabriel Pulecio (aka Lustix) is a self-taught motion designer and visual artist born in Colombia and based in New York City. His work encompasses a wide range of art mediums, including motion design, projection mapping, animation,illustration and digital fabrication. It is this versatility of disciplines that Gabriel is recognized for in his industry, a professional characteristic which has propelled his career and reputation as a contemporary digital artist. Aesthetically, Gabriel communicates a general message of unpredictability and “the unexpected” made visible in his art work, whereas most feature an ever-changing palette of light patterns, colors, and shapes that manipulate viewers’ notions of space and perspective.
Since 2011, Gabriel has focused his digital expertise on the creation of interactive sculptures and projection mapped installations that aim to marry both digital and analog concepts, where fabrication, design, and graphics are seamlessly incorporated as a means to bend light and visual perspective. His works have been showcased around the world, including 2012/2013 Lighting In a Bottle Electronic Music Festival in Los Angeles, 2012 Kerne l Festival in Milan, 2011 3rd Ward Inflatable Show in New York City, and SXSW 2014 in Austin. Most recently, Gabriel participated in F5 Festival 2015 in New York City where he showcased Dppler, a 360’ interactive installation that uses projection mapping techniques and motion tracking to react to its environment by producing a near infinite number of light patterns and combinations.
Gabriel’s diverse skill set has also allowed him to work with an international range of clients and studios to create pieces for music videos, tour visuals, commercials, film titles and print media. He has worked with New York’s most prestigious digital studios including Framestore, Psyop, and the Mill. Various project contributions include Madonna’s 2012 world tour graphics, “Live Alone” music video for LCD Soundsystem, and Evangeline remixed by David Lynch, Showtime logo mnemonic,Hyundai installation graphics (Piccadilly Circus, London) , and Armada skis art design, apparel design for Nike among others.
