DEATH GRIPS
American Hip/Hop Punk group, Death Grips, consists of MC Ride on vocals, Zach Hill on drums and Andy Morin. Often associated with much controversy, Death Grips have gained a reputation with the persona of the members, especially Ride, with the Underground, Alternative generation. With the recent announcement of a reunion, the band has embarked on an extensive tour, including the recent sold out show at Fitzgerald’s on July 17th. Early 2011 brought the eponymous debut, considered an E.P. by fans, Death Grips was released as a .zip file with not track listing. A little over a month later Exmilitary was to the public with great appraisal, including an 82 on reputable Metacritic. A Death Grips stands along with Flying Lotus for having music featured in a video game, in this case, the song “Hacker was added to Battlefield Hardline. Death Grips have also featured songs in television shows such as Waterloo Road and Bojack Horseman. After a hiatus, the group released free instrumental entitled Fashion Week through their Facebook page preceding their latest “The Powers that B,” another record that was released as a free digital download.
